UK Delays 'Iron Man 3' Premiere Fearing Civic Unrest Tied to Margaret Thatcher's Funeral
The UK premiere of Iron Man 3, originally scheduled for April 17, is being delayed because that's the same day on which the funeral of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher is set.
Those involved in the movie's premiere are worried that the day of Thatcher's funeral may be marked by civic unrest, so they don't want a movie promotion to correspond with it.
As a result, Iron Man 3 is now scheduled to premiere on April 18, which is still eight days before it opens at the box office.
Stars of the film Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow will attend the premiere on April 18 and walk the red carpet as originally scheduled.
