Left-Winger Susan Sarandon to Star in Mother/Daughter NBC Sitcom
NBC has given the greenlight for a new sitcom pilot titled Growing Ivy starring long-time left-winger Susan Sarandon and her daughter, Eva Amurri Martino. The pair will play a mother and daughter "working on their relationship."
Martino is to play Ivy Davis, a type A, career-minded woman in her late 20s who is starting to realize that her career has left her little time for a personal life. The character had a tumultuous, unstable childhood thanks to mother "Frankie" (Sarandon) and decides to ask her mom to move in with her to repair their relationship.
Sarandon will play "Frankie" as a "freewheeling, eccentric mom."
The pilot is being written by Will McCormack and star Martino. McCormack, an actor whose career began in the late '90s, has one writing credit to his name--the 2012 romantic comedy Celeste & Jesse Forever--as well as a few producing credits.
