Kathy Griffin Compares 'Duck Dynasty' Suspension to Matthew Shepard Killing

Kathy Griffin doesn’t think recently suspended Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson deserves victim status. So she served up an over the top Tweet to make her point.

The liberal comic sent out a info-graphic via her Twitter account comparing Robertson’s suspension to the death of Matthew Shepard, the gay man whose murder became a rallying cry for equal rights among progressives.

The graphic features a picture of Robertson with the headline, “This Is Not a Victim.” A photograph of Shepard is pasted next to the reality show star’s mug shot–“This Is.”

“Matthew Shepard was beaten to death for being homosexual,” we’re told.

Griffin may not be aware that the entire story surrounding Shepard’s tragic death may be a myth.

A new book by investigative journalist Stephen Jimenez has challenged many of the central assumptions about Shepard’s murder and argues that anti-gay hatred was not the primary motivation for his killing, if it was a factor at all.
