Johnny Depp to Receive Award For Wearing Makeup

Johnny Depp has yet to win an Oscar during his eclectic career, but soon he’ll take home a trophy for doing what he does for virtually every role these days.

Sit in a makeup chair for hours at a time.

Sure, Depp sports great cheekbones and looks a decade younger than his 50 years. Still, the folks who create the elaborate face costumes for Depp insist he’s a great collaborator when it comes to remaking his visage, and thus worthy of the first Distinguished Artisan award from the Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild.

This is a new awards category from the industry body, which celebrates an actor who has made particularly artistic collaborations with hair and makeup specialists. The award will be presented by Joel Harlow, the Oscar-winning make-up artist who worked with Depp on The Lone Ranger and the Pirates of the Caribbean movies as well as the fortcoming Transcendence….
