CBS Gears up To Elect Hillary Clinton President
I’m sure it is just a wild coincidence that two years out from the start of the 2016 presidential election we have CBS is green-lighting “Madame Secretary,” a drama that “explores the personal and professional life of a maverick female Secretary of State as she drives international diplomacy, wrangles office politics and balances a complex family life.”
Remember when the same coincidence occurred in 2005 when ABC produced a series about a female president just two years before Hillary ran for president in 2008?
Hollywood is just full of coincidences.
‘Better Call Saul” Debuts in November; Mike Returns!
Jonathan Banks, who played Saul’s fixer/killer/investigator Mike in “Breaking Bad,” will return as a regular in the “Bad” prequel “Better Call Saul.” Walter White assassinated Mike, but “Saul” is a prequel so the producers can bring this terrific character and a character actor who has not been adequately appreciated for decades.
Though I have complete faith in creator Vince Gilligan, I am curious as to how he will turn a supporting character like Saul into a lead protagonist.
Anyway, November can’t come soon enough and congrats to America for finally catching on to the greatness of Mr. Banks.
DVD Release of “Wolf of Wall Street” Contains 4-Hour Cut
I probably won’t bother to see Scorsese’s “Wolf of Wall Street.” It’s not that I’m a prude it’s just that from what I’ve read about the movie it is mostly about the cast sexually debasing themselves for 3 hours, and nihilism in any form just isn’t my thing.
The DVD will contain both the three-hour and four-hour cut. That’s a good thing. I want to slap directors who refuse to release the theatrical cut with their own. Last I checked, you still can’t purchase the theatrical cuts of “Dances with Wolves” or “The Good the Bad and the Ugly” on Bluray.
Oscars to honor ‘Wizard of Oz’ on 75th anniversary
Interesting choice. “The Wizard of Oz” was released in 1939, which was Hollywood’s and history’s greatest year for movies. Why single this one out over dozens of others? Why not celebrate the year as a whole?
