The Woody Allen/Dylan Farrow debate is now filtering into the political world. Consider it the latest front in the GOP’s battle against the left’s willingness to call out Republicans for a so-called War on Women.
The Republican Party of Kentucky is calling on Sen. Mitch McConnell’s (R-Ky.) Democratic opponent, Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes, to return a $500 donation from director Woody Allen, who has faced scrutiny in recent weeks over the re-emergence of sexual abuse allegations against him.
The state GOP also slammed Lundergan Grimes for taking cash from former Representative John Arnold, who has been accused of sexually harassing co-workers.
“If she doesn’t return the donations, we can only assume she either condones sexual harassment and disgustingly inappropriate behavior in the workplace, or she’s more concerned with her liberal allies’ campaign cash than the women of Kentucky,” [Kelsey Cooper, communications director for the Kentucky GOP] added.
The Lundergan Grimes campaign declined to comment on the matter, according to The Hill.
Allen has repeatedly denied the allegations made by his daughter, Dylan Farrow, most recently in an op-ed letter she penned for The New York Times. The matter already is roiling the current Oscar voting season. Allen’s film Blue Jasmine is up for several major awards including Best Actress for star Cate Blanchett.
