Katherine Heigl's Kickstarter Campaign for Lesbian Drama Scrambling for Cash

Katherine Heigl’s reputation for being difficult may be endangering her latest film project.

The actress, like Penn Jillette, Spike Lee and Adam Carolla before her, is turning to a crowd fundraising site to raise cash for a feature film.

Jenny’s Wedding is using IndieGogo for a helping hand, but so far potential donors aren’t exactly lining up to help. The site has raised roughly $18,000 of its $150,000 goal.

Here is how IndieGogo describes the movie:

When Jenny decides to marry a woman, her conventional family is forced to accept who she is or risk losing their daughter and their self respect.

Heigl hurt her career when she publicly critiqued her own film, Knocked Up, for alleged sexism. Later, reports surfaced that she was “difficult,” with members of the crew from Life As We Know It complaining about her on-set behavior.

One source who worked with the star on the 2010 film Life As We Know It described “desperately difficult situations” with Heigl on set. “She can cost you time every single day of shooting,” the source charged of Heigl, 34, who was paid $12 million for the film. “Wardrobe issues, not getting out of the trailer, questioning the script every single day.”

She also withdrew her name from Emmy consideration in 2008 because she felt the writing for her show, Grey’s Anatomy, didn’t deserve industry praise.
