Harrison Ford to Miss 6-8 weeks of 'Star Wars' Shooting After Ankle Injury

LONDON, June 16 (UPI)–Harrison Ford’s recent injury will cause him to miss time on the Star Wars: Episode VII set.

The 71-year-old actor was airlifted to the hospital last Thursday after he was reportedly injured by the door of the Millennium Falcon prop. He is confirmed to have a broken ankle, but, contrary to some reports, did not sustain a pelvic injury.

“The initial day or two after the accident it was hard to move some things around,” a source tells The Mirror. “But now we have had more time we can juggle things, bring some scenes forward and push others back. There are lots of other actors in the movie so it is not a disaster.”

“We are still confident the film can stay on schedule,” the insider continues. “At the moment it looks like Harrison is going to be off set for 6-8 weeks, but the main priority is making sure he is okay.”

Ford’s wife, actress Calista Flockhart, flew to England over the weekend to be with her husband. The actor is still in the hospital, but a Star Wars publicist tells Sky News they “hope to announce some good news soon.”

Star Wars: Episode VII is scheduled for release December 18, 2015.
