Coming Soon to a Television Near You: Booze and Meat

Other than meat and booze, I have no idea what these reality shows are about –but I’m for them.

While narrative television mostly delivers urban elite characters and their effete urban elite values that wouldn’t be possible without Red State America growing their food, shipping their hoity-goods goods, and unclogging their environmentally friendly toilets — reality television, however, marches on serving up populism for the masses: Men doing manly things, like fishing, logging, praying, eating red meat, and blowing stuff up.

God bless reality television.

America could survive quite well without New York, DC, Southern California, and the West Coast — maybe thrive.
