Sammy Hagar to Host 'Roll of Honour' Awards Show in Hollywood for First Time

The 10th Annual Classic Rock Roll of Honour, “rocks most prestigious night,” will be held on Tuesday, November 4 in Hollywood, California on U.S soil for the first time in its history.

“Red Rocker” Sammy Hagar, one of the few celebrities who lean to the right in Hollywood, has signed on as the main host for the iconic awards show.

“The Classic Rock Roll of Honour is one of music’s coolest and most prestigious events in the U.K. so I’m really excited to be hosting it for the first time in the U.S.,” Hagar announced in a statement. My goal is to keep it fun and filled with so many off-the-hook music moments that we put it on the map alongside the Grammys, VMAs and other awards ceremonies.”

The list of previous hosts includes rock legends that have been vocal about their political opinions in the past, such as Alice Cooper, Duff McKagan, and Gene Simmons.

“The country is so divided. I voted for President Obama last time but I have to say I’m very disappointed in his job,” Simmons told Noise Creep in 2012. “He’s been a piss-poor president as far as I’m concerned.”

Back in 2008, Hagar’s former band mate Eddie Van Halen expressed his dissatisfaction, via written statement, to the GOP for playing one of their hits titled “Right Now” during a rally for John McCain and Co. in Ohio. Hagar did not agree with his ex-band mate.

“I was honored that a potential president of the United States used those words in a positive sense,” he said.

The rock and roll celebration, scheduled to take place at the historic Avalon music venue in Hollywood, has been hosted in Camden, London for the past nine years. The change of tradition is apparently an attempt to better connect the U.K and the U.S on an economic and creative standpoint.

Classic Rock Magazine will entertain more than 400 distinguished music personalities and industry folks with a fine wine and dine reception, paving the way to the ceremony.

The official nominees were announced today and include both listener and fan-based categories. If you are a die-hard classic rocker, you can cast your vote here by Oct. 22.
