Bruce Springsteen's 'Outlaw Pete' Transformed into Children's Book

The legendary Bruce Springsteen, also known as “The Boss,” announced on Thursday his plans to adapt his 2009 hit “Outlaw Pete” into a children’s book.

Cartoonist and writer Frank Caruso has signed on to help the rocker transform the song into a classic tale for kids, which is scheduled to stock shelves Nov. 4th.

“When Bruce wrote ‘Outlaw Pete,’ he didn’t just write a great song,” Caruso said. “He created a great character.” Caruso added, “The first time I heard this song, this book played out in my head.”

The book and song tell of a man trying to “outlive” and outrun his sins. Springsteen drew inspiration for both based off a regular childhood encounter when his mother would read Brave Cowboy Bill to him.

Mr. Springsteen rose to fame more than three decades ago after his album Born in the U.S.A. became the best-selling record of his musical career. The album allegedly made him a political figure

Born in the U.S.A. changed my life and gave me my biggest audience,” Springsteen expressed in 1998. “It forced me to question the way I presented my music and made me think harder about what I was doing.”

Springsteen told Rolling Stone that he escaped the draft during Vietnam by deliberately acting “crazy” but also failed his physical tests due to a concussion he suffered from a motorcycle accident.

Last year, the music icon auctioned off one of his guitars for $250,000 to benefit wounded service members during the seventh annual “Stand Up for Heroes” event, CBS News reported.

The Boss and President Obama visited the same New York fundraiser in October 2009, and it was there that the President confessed to his wife that he was running for office because he “can’t be Bruce Springsteen.”

Prior to the 2012 presidential elections, Springsteen made his endorsement for President Obama personal and took to his website to address the nation in “A Message from Bruce.”

“In foreign affairs, that record includes following through on the removal of troops from the misguided and deceptive war in Iraq and vigorously pursuing our real foreign enemies, especially this killing of Osama Bin Laden,” he wrote.

The 20-time Grammy winner was able to reconnect with President Obama in May at a fundraiser in Los Angeles. Obama was reportedly the guest of honor at a Spielberg Gala for the Shoah Foundation at USC.

Regardless of his politics, the rockstar has earned a reputation for becoming a political advocate through his lyrics. The world should expect nothing less from his new book.
