Bachmann: Rush, Breitbart 'Alternative Media' Outlets Helping Truth Rise to Top
Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MI) said that Rush Limbaugh and Breitbart News are "alternative media" outlets that are helping the truth the mainstream media try to hide rise to the top.
Appearing on Breitbart News' broadcast of the "Exempt America" rally on Tuesday with Breitbart News Executive Chairman Stephen K. Bannon, Bachmann said there is this "big monolithic media, then you have Rush."
She emphasized that Limbaugh "has the biggest voice out there." Bachmann said there are "very few places you can go to get the other side," and noted, "now we have Breitbart." She said it was refreshing to have voices like Breitbart News that give readers the "unvarnished" truth and represent the voice of Americans outside the beltway.
Bachmann said the mainstream media tries to silence these alternative outlets, but the "truth always seems to float to the top."
Media outlets like Breitbart News also help expose the shenanigans of the Republican establishment that Bachmann blasted for not wanting to defund Obamacare. Bachmann said there is a "little hoodwink going on coming from the Republicans" on defunding Obamacare efforts. She said the House leadership is making it seem like Republicans are for defunding Obamacare when in fact they are not.
Bachmann added that the group of conservatives who are not going to support the rule promoted by House leadership on supposed Obamacare defunding is "going to change the course of history"; the resolution the Republican leadership want to attach to a broader one on the budget simply makes Republicans "look like we are doing something on defunding but we really are not." The vote on that measure was delayed on Wednesday because the Republican leadership in the House did not have the 218 votes.
