Palin: 'Not Surprising' Katie Couric's Show Got Canceled

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said Katie Couric left two prominent shows at CBS and ABC because Americans just did not want to tune in to watch her.

When Extra’s Mario Lopez asked Palin on Friday about the cancellation of Couric’s talk show, Palin said she remembered “getting a couple of texts that said things like, ‘Oh sorry that it didn’t work out there at CBS or ABC.'”

Palin was referring to Couric’s departure from CBS after ratings for the network’s evening newscast tanked with Couric as the anchor.

“That wasn’t real surprising because the ratings were going in the tank with her as one of the head honchos there in the newsroom at CBS and then it didn’t surprise me, her other move,” Palin said. “Things weren’t going real well there, either.”

Couric got a talk show on ABC, which was canceled last year after being called an “unmitigated disaster.” Couric then took a pay-cut for a part-time gig at Yahoo! News.

Palin spoke to Extra to promote her new show, Amazing America with Sarah Palin, which will air on The Sportsman Channel.
