As the scandal between David Petraeus and Paula Broadwell continues to unfold, we need to remember one thing -- Petraeus may be one of the few people who actually knows what happened in Benghazi.
Not only was he CIA Director at the time of the attack, but he made a personal trip to Benghazi in late October to investigate the site of the attack for himself.
He intended for that trip to be preparatory to his Congressional testimony, originally scheduled for Nov. 15 (before details of the affair began to emerge). To that end, he investigated not only the Sept. 11 attack but also the days and events leading up to it.
With this in mind, we have to be sure the mainstream media's current obsession with Petraeus' affair doesn't result in obscuring the information he gathered.
Although Petraeus claims he passed all the information he uncovered to acting CIA Director Michael Morrell, no one could tell the story like the man who conducted the investigation. Thus, as news continues to break on the sexual scandal, sober minds need to remember we still need to know what Petraeus knows about Benghazi.
