Egypt General Warns Morsi: Nation May 'Collapse'

Egyptian Defense Minister and military chief Gen. Abdel Fattah El Sissi has put President Mohamed Morsi on notice that the country could face an imminent collapse.

According to Sissi, "The continuation of the conflict between different political forces and their differences over how the country should be run could lead to the collapse of the state and threaten future generations."

Tensions remain high in Egypt, as Morsi's followers rally for one solution and his political opponents rally for another. The country's economy is on the brink, and the unrest is only making it more difficult for foreign investors to take a chance on Cairo.

Reports indicate that Sissi's words cut across party lines, and Morsi's supporters as well as his opponents realize that if fighting continues, the military is going to step in to take up the slack. If this happens, the country goes back to where it was two years ago, when "a council of generals" took over after President Hosni Mubarak was forced out.
