Youths Taking Selfies at Scenes of Tragedies

If someone asks how self-absorbed the younger generation can be, all you have to do is point to the website “Selfies at Serious Places,” which documents photos taken by the subjects of themselves at scenes of tragedies.

Some examples of the young people’s colossal self-absorption include:

  1. John Quirke at Auschwitz. Caption: “Selfie from the gas chamber in Auschwitz. #selfie #respect.”
  2. Twitter user @katiekavs tweeted about being hungover at the 9/11 Memorial.
  3. Jake Fletcher, at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. Caption: ‘Taking the selfie to radioactive levels.”
  4. User @samisghost decided a smile and a thumbs-up was appropriate at the Holocaust Memorial.
