Giant Squid Carcass Washed Up on Spanish Beach

SANTANDER, Spain, Oct. 7 (UPI) — 

Scientists in Spain said a 400-pound giant squid that washed up in the country has been frozen and is being studied.

The Maritime Museum in Santander said the squid, a member of the Architeuthis dux species, was discovered on the La Arena beach and was brought to the museum where it was frozen, The Local.es reported Monday.

The scientists said the carcass was in very good condition and they are determining whether it can be displayed at the museum.
