Libyan Interim Gov. Reports PM Zaidan Has Been Kidnapped

Libya's interim government reports that Prime Minister Ali Zaidan was kidnapped at dawn on October 10.

They announced via Twitter that they believe he was taken by Libyan rebels, but "for unknown reasons" and to "an unknown destination."

Libya's Commission on Crime and Council of Ministers called for convening an immediate meeting chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister.  The Council also called on all citizens to remain calm and confirmed that the National Congress and the interim government are monitoring the situation.

According to Al Jazeera, the director of communications to the prime minister Amel Jerary says there is little that can be done at this time.  He said nothing is clear at the moment except for the fact that those who kidnapped the PM "were very well prepared."
