Ros-Lehtinen Tells Obama: Release Full Text of Iran Deal

Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) wrote a February letter to Barack Obama that asked him to release the text of the Iran nuclear agreement. Ros-Lehtinen, who chairs the House Foreign Affairs subcommittee on the Middle East and North Africa, said that without a copy of the agreement to peruse, Congress cannot judge it. Releasing the entire text, she asserted, would let Americans “judge for themselves the merits of this deal.”

Ros-Lehtinen wrote: “In order for Congress to properly perform its oversight functions and for the American people and our allies to have a full and open debate on this issue, I respectfully request that you make public the full text of the Joint Plan of Action.”

She added that Obama has only allowed some of the details to be known “while keeping the rest shrouded in secrecy.” She noted that reports persist that Iran has developed centrifuges allowing them to expedite the uranium enrichment process.

Ros-Lehtinen warned, “Even more alarming is the fact that the Iranian regime, according to reports, believe that these actions are within their right under the Joint Plan of Action.”
