UN Worker with Ebola Dies in German Hospital

A German hospital confirmed on Tuesday that a United Nations worker has died from Ebola eight days after testing positive.

St. Georg hospital in Leipzig says after undergoing “intensive medical procedures,” an unnamed 56-year-old man died from the Ebola infection he contracted in Liberia, the Associated Press reports.

Forty-one UN staff workers who may have had contact with the man are now under “close medical observation.”

The victim was the third Ebola patient to be flown to Germany for treatment.
