After U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested Octavio Gonzalez-Ramirez Monday morning, the suspect admitted to having stabbed two members of the “Norteno” gang.
El Centro sector Border Patrol agents apprehended the 23-year-old Mexican citizen. He was found to have entered the U.S. illegally approximately seven miles east of Calexico West Port of Entry.
A Border Patrol release stated, “During an interview, Gonzalez admitted to being a member of the ‘Sureno’ criminal street gang based out of Santa Maria. Gonzalez also admitted to stabbing two “Norteno” gang members six years ago. Record checks revealed Gonzalez has an extensive criminal history and was removed from the U.S. in 2010.”
As of October 20, Gonzalez was in Border Patrol custody. He will be criminally prosecuted for illegal re-entry, according to the Border Patrol statement.
Arizona Sheriff Paul Babeau, in September said, in reference to individuals illegally crossing the U.S. southern border, “We don’t catch them every time.”
“Even though many relegate Border Patrol agents to only patrolling the border, we have highly experienced agents who utilize the latest interviewing techniques and can recognize many forms of deception. Our agents are always alert and armed with this keen sense and insight,” National Border Patrol Council Union spokesperson Gabe Pacheco told Breitbart News.
