CA Father, Son Killed in the Line of Duty: Same Date, 26 Years Apart

On October 24, Placer County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael David Davis Jr. was killed in the line of duty – exactly 26 years to the day after his father–Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael David Davis–was also killed in the line of duty.

Davis Jr. was one of the two deputies killed during Marcelo Marquez’s shooting spree on Friday, and the Los Angeles Times reports that his father “was killed in a helicopter accident while working drug intervention” exactly 26 years prior.

A procession consisting of police “and other officials will escort Davis Jr’s body to a local mortuary” on the afternoon of October 25.

Breitbart News reported that Marquez also murdered Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputy Danny Oliver during his unexplained October 24 shooting spree.

Marquez also faces charges for shooting a second Placer County Sheriff’s Deputy, who was with Davis Jr. when he was killed, and for shooting a civilian during a carjacking that was part of Marquez’s attempt to flee a crime scene.
