Dozens Suffer Food Poisoning at NAACP Gala Dinner

More than 50 guests at an NAACP gala in Redwood City, California, experienced vomiting and diarrhea after suffering from food poisoning Saturday night, CBS San Francisco reports. Twelve people were rushed to the hospital in ambulances, where they were treated for dehydration. Others drove themselves to hospitals through the night.

The event, which hosted 300 guests at the Sofitel San Francisco Bay Hotel, was to commemorate the closing of the 27th Annual NAACP State Convention, according to the San Jose Mercury News. Former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown was the keynote speaker.

The meal consisted of salmon and salad, CBS San Francisco reports.
