Rather Hilarious UC Santa Cruz Protest over Ferguson

Over 100 students from UC Santa Cruz decided to horn in on the protests around the nation after the non-indictment of Officer Darren Wilson for shooting Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. The students held a peaceful march through downtown Santa Cruz that ended at the Clock Tower, chanting, “The people united! We will never be divided!”

One white student interviewed by local NBC News affiliate KSBW-8 had her own explanation for the students’ desire to protest, showing the wisdom she had imbibed while at university:

I feel all cops who murder people should be indicted and should be held accountable for those actions. They should not keep their jobs, and it really stems from the training that these people are given. It comes from the police state in general. It comes from the capitalistic protection of private property. That’s what they’re doing; they are trying to protect the white people.

None of the representatives of the police state showed up to guard the students from danger, or even rational thought.

UC Santa Cruz students have been holding a classroom building hostage for days, occupying it to protest the UC Board of Regent’s vote to raise tuition every year for the next five years. Strangely enough, they have been chanting, “The people united! We will never be divided!”
