Bungling Bomber Blows Himself Up: Forgot to Put His Watch Forward

The Irish Police (Garda) believe that a gangland bomber who blew himself up on Sunday in Dublin did so because he forgot to move his clock forward for Daylight Saving Time.

At 11pm the man was blown up before he had time to leave the scene of the timed explosion under a Volvo SUV.

He was then seen attempting to flee the Long Lane area with blood dripping down his face. His injuries are such that the Garda have not yet been able to interview him.

The Garda have suggested that the suspect accidently injured himself in the explosion because he forgot to set his watch forward on the morning of the attack. A senior source told the Daily Mirror: “This certainly was a high-grade explosive used in this bomb. It wasn’t garbage stuff.

“It would appear the bomber got his timings wrong. It could be a case where he didn’t put his watch forward on Sunday [at 1am] and the timer went off too soon.

“However, it is more likely he didn’t realise just how powerful the explosives would be.

The Volvo SUV was owned by a local businessman who is thought to be the target. Although Dublin has been targeted by terrorist attacks in the past, this incident is not thought to be related.
