A Conservative councillor has admitted threatening a neighbour with a gun is a dispute over a cat.
Nick Buckmaster, councillor for Larkswood in the London borough of Waltham Forest, pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence towards neighbour Brett Stark.
This is Local London reports that the incident happened on 18 January this year when Mr Buckmaster called at Mr Stark’s home to confront him over the damage his pet cat had caused to his home.
Buckmaster is reported to have said: “I know who you are. I know what you do. I know everything about you,” before pointing an airgun at Mr Stark.
After putting the gun away, Councillor Buckmaster was then “tackled” by Mr Stark on the front lawn.
Mr Buckmaster, who is currently staying at an address in Norfolk, is not allowed to enter the E4 postcode district as part of his bail conditions.
He remains a councillor until next month’s election. He will be sentenced on 16 May.
