Man Charged with Assaulting British MP George Galloway

London, August 31 – A man was charged with a religiously-motivated “assault by beating” on British MP George Galloway, British police said on Saturday.

The BBC reported that the accused Neil Matterson 39 would appear in court on Monday.

Galloway, pro-Palestinian, left the hospital after receiving treatment for injuries sustained in the wake of an assault on one of West London streets.

Galloway, who represents a party (Respect) in the British Parliament, was preparing to take a picture with some passers-by, when the accused jumped towards Galloway and directed him with punches, which led to severe bruising to his head.

A spokesman for the British MP, “The attack on Galloway came because of his position on Israel and support for Palestinian cause”.
