A mishap in which the Scottish Saltire flag fell down as it was hoisted over Downing Street in a symbol of support for the union was mocked by press and social media on Wednesday.
Social media users shared videos of the flag falling down as it was hoisted up by workmen, some quipping that it was “beyond saltire”.
The Scottish Sun’s front page headline was “Another pole disaster”.
The Huffington Post lead with the headline “Tumbling in the polls”, describing the incident “Downing Street PR stunt goes comically wrong”.
