After Chinese referees botched a call to cost Tracy McGrady's team a victory earlier this week, McGrady took to his Chinese social media account on Tuesday and referred to game's referees as the three "blind mice." He also threatened to not come back to the Chinese Basketball Association next season if the officiating does not get better.
For his comments, the Chinese Basketball Association suspended McGrady for one game because his post was deemed to have had an "adverse social impact." The league fined McGrady $1,600. It also suspended the head referee McGrady criticized for 10 games and his two assistants for five.
On Weibo, which is China's equivalent to Twitter, McGrady wrote:
"This bad officiating has to change. No way I’m coming back if the officiating continues to be this errant. CBA has to do a better job with these officials. My team plays hard every night and the blind mice take it away from us"
McGrady is a two-time NBA scoring champion.
