Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o on Friday said the thought of visiting his cancer-stricken girlfriend who also suffered life-threatening injuries from a car accident never crossed his mind.
When asked why he never went to see “Lennay Kekua” at the hospital after her accident and when she was dying of leukemua, Te’o said:
“It never really crossed my mind. I don’t know. I was in school.”
Te’o spoke to ESPN Friday night in Florida. This was the first time he addressed the Deadspin report–published Wednesday–that revealed his girlfriend who had supposedly died had never existed and was a hoax.
