Actress Ashley Judd and IndyCar driver Dario Franchitti are separating after 11 years of marriage.
“We have mutually decided to end our marriage,” the two said in a statement. “We’ll always be family and continue to cherish our relationship based on the special love, integrity, and respect we have always enjoyed.”
Judd, an avid Kentucky basketball fan and Democrat, is believed to be considering challenging Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell (R) in 2014.
Franchitti won the Indianapolis 500 in 2012 in an emotional victory he dedicated to his late friend and fellow IndyCar driver Dan Wheldon, who tragically passed away after a crash during a race in Las Vegas in 2011.
Franchitti has won the signature race three times.
