Iowa State Athletic Director Booted from Son's HS Basketball Game for Arguing Calls

Iowa State athletic director Jamie Pollard was booted from his son’s high school basketball game for arguing with the game’s officials on Tuesday night.

Marty Lucas, superintendent for the Colfax-Mingo school district, said Pollard criticized calls that were made at his son’s high school basketball game and was asked to leave.

Pollard’s son, Jamie, plays for Gilbert High School. Gilbert played Colfax-Mingo High School on Wednesday.

Lucas said “the referee heard Pollard disagree with a game call during a timeout” and “asked school officials to remove Pollard.” While Pollard did not “yell or use foul language,” he was described as “a dad being a dad” in a “heated” game.

Pollard’s son’s team ended up losing the game, 68-65.
