Report: Eight NCAA Teams to Wear Sleeved Jerseys in Tourney

Eight teams sponsored by Adidas will wear short-sleeve basketball jerseys in the NCAA tournament.

Adidas confirmed the report to the Sporting News on Wednesday, but did not specify which teams would wear the jerseys.

“We are still working on teams, but it will be a very innovative story,” Adidas Vice President Lawrence Norman said.

Prominent teams Adidas sponsors include Kansas, UCLA, Michigan, Indiana, Cincinnati, Louisville, and NC State.

The jerseys will be similar to those worn last weekend by the Golden State Warriors, which Adidas also designed, but will have a camouflage look to them. Players in the McDonald’s All American High School Basketball game will also wear similar sleeved jerseys.

Marketing executives believe short-sleeved jerseys will be more marketable to casual fans and that is why professional and college teams are experimenting with the sleeved jerseys.
