Cal Likely Secures Tournament Berth by Defeating Colorado
The California Golden Bears routed the Colorado Buffalos 62-46 on Saturday at Berkeley, winning their seventh straight game and most likely getting off the NCAA bubble and securing a spot in the tournament.
Cal (20-9, 12-5) also has a chance to win the Pac-12 crown. Cal is one game out of first place and needs to win at rival Stanford, a team that will not make the tournament unless it wins the Pac-12 tournament, to have a chance to win the regular season title.
Cal had lost five of their last six games to Colorado, but the Golden Bears have won nine of their last ten games, a streak that has come at the perfect time since California was fighting just to get considered for the tournament three weeks ago.
Tyrone Wallace had 16 points and David Kravish had 14 for Cal. Allen Crabbe, who leads the conference in scoring, had eight points, seven rebounds, and five assists for the Golden Bears.
Wallace delivered a thunderous slam dunk on a fast break in the second half that electrified the crowd at Haas Pavilion.
