Backup Blackhawks Goalie Sets NHL Record

Chicago Blackhawks backup goalie Ray Emery set an NHL record on Wednesday by becoming the first goalie to win ten consecutive decisions to start an NHL season.

Emery, who is No. 1 goalie Corey Crawford's backup, made 20 saves as the Blackhawks continued their record NHL streak of starting the season with a point in 24 consecutive games by defeating the Colorado Avalance when forward Daniel Carcillo scored the game-winner with less than a minute to play in regulation. Emery is 10-0-0 this season.

Chicago's points streak is at 30, dating back to last year, and is the second-longest such streak in NHL history, five shy of the record of 35 games, which was set by the 1979-80 Philadelphia Flyers.
