Indecisive QB Gunner Kiel Set to Transfer from Notre Dame
Gunner Kiel had a hard time making up his mind regarding where he wanted to play college football, and now, after less than a full academic year, Kiel is ready to leave Notre Dame and plans to transfer.
A top quarterback in the 2012 class, Kiel was “committed” to both Indiana and LSU before ultimately ending up at Notre Dame.
After losing the battle for the starting job to redshirt freshman Everett Golson, Kiel spent the season as a redshirt on the bench. He now seems set to take his talents to a team that has room for him to play after sitting out for a mandatory season.
One location Kiel is unlikely to select a second time around is LSU.
Following Kiel’s selection of the Fighting Irish after being committed to LSU, Tigers coach Les Miles said “there was a gentleman from Indiana that thought about coming to the Bayou state. He did not necessarily have the chest and the ability to lead a program, so you know."
Kiel has been gracious in his comments towards Miles, admitting his immaturity in the recruiting process. He also previously said he had no intention of transferring.
