Georgetown Destroys Syracuse, Shares Big East Title with Marquette and Louisville

Georgetown claimed the Big East title and No. 1 seed in the Big East tournament by drubbing Syracuse 61-39 in the Orangemen’s last regular season Big East game before leaving for the ACC. Laster Saturday Marquette claimed a share of the title with an overtime 69-67 win over St.John’s, and Louisville also took home a trophy with a 73-57 destruction of Notre Dame.  The Hoyas claim the 1-seed in the Big East tournament due to a win over Louisville and split of two games with Marquette.

The match-up that has produced so many Big East classics over the years was a blowout Saturday.

While Otto Porter did a bit of everything as usual with eight rebounds, seven assists and dominant defense, but he left most of the scoring to others on a night in which he just scored 10 points, to 19 for Markel Starks and 15 for D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera had 15 points.

After last season, Value Add basketball surprised many by predicting Otto Porter would be the Big East Player of the year, and he has been even better as he is now being considered for National Player of the year.
