Saint
Louis, which has been pegged by some as a potential dark horse
contender and a stumbling block for Louisville, marched onward in the
tournament with a dominant performance over New Mexico State to win
64-44.
The
Billikens have dedicated their season to late legendary coach Rick
Majerus.Interim Head Coach Jim Cruz has replaced Majerus and is now in
contention for Coach of the Year.
While Saint Louis was in control throughout the game, it was the end of the game that saw the Billikens truly pull away.
The
team is led by Junior forward Dwayne Evans who averages 13.7 ppg and
7.7 rpg. Evans was once again predominant on Tuesday, providing 24
points and 6 rebounds for the Billikens.
A
concern for Saint Louis moving forward is the lack of supporting cast
surrounding Evans. Either Oklahoma State or Oregon await the Billikens
in the second round as the two teams will likely vie for the chance to
face Louisville in the Sweet 16.
