Mosqueda-Lewis Leads Scores 22 to Defeat Vandy

This year the Connecticut women lost four more games than they did during their record streak from 2008 to 2010, but Monday they crushed Vanderbilt 77-44 to advance to the Regional Semifinals for the 20th straight season. Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis (left in photo with coach Geno Auriemma and teammate Kelly Faris) led the Huskies with 22 points.

Saturday against Maryland they have a chance to claim their sixth straight trip to the Final Four.

“The consistency of our program, day in and day out, week in and week out, year in and year out is something that we can take great pride in,” coach Geno Auriemma told the Associated Press. “I don’t know who else has done it 20 years in a row, but it’s really hard to do. Sometimes we make it look easy, but it’s really hard to do.”
