Report: NHL to Schedule Six Outdoor Games Next Season

The NHL is finalizing plans to host six games in outdoor baseball and football stadiums next season.

The first game will be the annual Winter Classic (it was not held this season due to the strike that shortened the season), which will be played in the Big House in Ann Arbor, Mich., where the Michigan Wolverines play their home college football games. That game will be played on Jan. 1, 2014 between the Detroit Red Wings and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

According to ESPN, Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles (Anaheim Ducks vs. Los Angeles Kings), Yankee Stadium in New York, Soldier Field in Chicago (Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Chicago Blackhawks), and TC Field in Vancouver (Ottawa Senators vs. Vancouver Canucks) will host games, with New York’s Yankee Stadium hosting two games (New York Rangers vs. New Jersey Devils and Rangers vs. New York Islanders).
