Redskins QB RG III: 'Tyranny of Political Correctness' Holding Americans Hostage
Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III, whom an ESPN pundit once called a "cornball brother" because he has a white fiancee and may be a Republican, railed against the "tyranny" of political correctness in a tweet on Tuesday.
"In a land of freedom we are held hostage by the tyranny of political correctness," Griffin tweeted.
It is unclear what exactly Griffin may have been referencing, but his sentiment was appreciated by many, including reporters who cover the NFL.
Ian Rapoport, an NFL.com reporter, tweeted, "I don't know what @RGIII is upset about. But I love a superstar QB being willing to speak his mind. Please, media, can we let this continue?"
Later on Tuesday night, Griffin tweeted a definition of tyranny and wrote that in the politically correct culture, those who speak are told they have said "it the wrong way" while those who do not speak are labelled as "cowards."
