NL East Rundown: Mets Snap Losing Streak

NY Mets 4, Atlanta 2

The Mets snapped an eight-game home losing skid, beating the Braves 4-2 Sunday night on the strength of an Ike Davis 8th inning, RBI single.

LaTroy Hawkins (1-0) got the win, Shaun Marcum struck out 12 and Lucas Duda homered for the Mets, who face the rival Yankees Monday. Dan Uggla hit a two-run homer for the Braves, and Cory Gearrin (1-1) took the loss in relief of Julio Teheran.

Washington 6, Philadalphia 1

Stephen Strasburg struck out 9, and the Nationals had a five-run inning for the first time this season as the Nationals dispatched Cole Hamels and the Phillies 6-1 Sunday night.

The Phillies had three errors in the game, including two in the crucial seventh. The Phillies’ lone run came on a Strasburg balk in the eighth.

Chicago White Sox 5, Miami 3

The White Sox beat Alex Sanabia (3-7) and the Miami Marlins 5-3 on Sunday to sweep their series.

Dayan Viciedo and Alex Rios each threw out a runner at the plate, and Adam Dunn homered in support of Dylan Axelrod (3-3) .
