Patriots Seek to Erase Hernandez, Invite Fans to Turn in Jerseys
The Patriots are eager to move on from accused murderer Aaron Hernandez. The franchise cut the tight end earlier this week, and, on Friday, they offered fans who had purchased a #81 jersey the chance to exchange it.
Exchanges can take place on July 6 and 7, and the stipulations include that the jersey be bought at the ProShop or PatriotsProShop.com.
“We know that children love wearing their Patriots jerseys, but may not
understand why parents don’t want them wearing their Hernandez jerseys
anymore,” Patriots spokesperson Stacey James said in the announcement.
“We hope this opportunity to exchange those jerseys at the Patriots
ProShop for another player’s jersey will be well received by parents.”
