Report: Cubs Trade Soriano to Yankees

The Chicago Cubs have reportedly traded outfielder Alfonso Soriano back to the Yankees.

Bob Nightengale of USA Today first reported the news. Soriano is in New York, and if the trade is approved by Major League Baseball, which is expected to do so, he will be in the lineup Friday against Tampa Bay.

Soriano’s original team was the Yankees, where he starred in the middle of the infield with shortstop Derek Jeter before Soriano was traded to Texas in 2004. He waived his no-trade clause to be traded in a mega-deal that saw the Yankees get currently embattled slugger Alex Rodriguez.
