A-Rod to Sports Illustrated: I Want to Be a 'Role Model'

New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez, facing a suspension of perhaps at least a year and possibly for life for again allegedly using performance-enhancing drugs, reportedly told Sports Illustrated that he still wants to be a role model.

Excerpts from the forthcoming issue were released, and CBS sports highlighted the relevant quote:

“I have two daughters at home, and I’m sensitive to that, and above all, I want to be a role model, continue to be a role model — especially to my girls. So all the noise sometimes gets on my nerves, but that’s it. I can’t let it get any further than that. I have a job to do.”

Rodriguez is on the cover of the upcoming issue with the headline, “The Last Days of A-Rod.”
