Report: Manziel Accepted Money for Autographs to Buy Rims for Car

Texas A&M quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel may have jeopardized his eligibility by allegedly accepting money for autographs so he could buy new rims for his car.

According to an ESPN report, Manziel allegedly received $7,500 for autographing mini-football helmets at a Walter Camp Football Foundation event in New Haven, Connecticut. This, according to an autograph broker who told the outlet that Manziel wanted the money in so he could buy new rims for his car.

The autograph session reportedly took place in a hotel and was caught on camera, but the video did not show the financial transaction taking place.

A separate ESPN report claimed that the Aggie quarterback accepted money for autographs earlier this year, just after “Manziel arrived in the Miami area to attend the BCS title game.”

Though hundreds of items were allegedly signed, no witnesses claimed to have seen a financial transaction take place.
