Girardi: White Sox Fans Wrong to Cheer A-Rod for Getting Beaned

Chicago White Sox fans cheered when New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez was beaned on Tuesday in his second game back with the team. On Monday, Rodriguez was suspended by Major League Baseball for 211 games, but he can play until his appeal is resolved.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi was none too happy with the crowd’s reaction.

“There’s something wrong with that,” Girardi said. “I often think that it starts from the adults. And if it was their child, would they want them to be hit? Because the kids will only repeat what the adults do.”

White Sox pitcher Chris Sale grazed Rodriguez’s elbow with a 93 MPH fastball.
