Riley Cooper Gets into Scuffle with Teammate During Practice

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Riley Cooper, who was caught on tape using the “N-word” at a Kenny Chesney concert, fought with his teammate during practice on Thursday and both players had to be restrained and separated. Michael Vick and DeSean Jackson reportedly played peacemakers.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Cooper and cornerback Cary Williams, who said he had problems with Cooper after the comments but would accept him on the team, “got into a scuffle at practice that required several players, including Michael Vick, to step in and separate the two.”

“Williams had to be forcibly pulled away,” according to the Inquirer. The fiery cornerback then walked to a separate field and strolled up and down by himself. Cooper looked visibly distraught and stayed out of one-on-one drills that involved receivers and defensive backs until DeSean Jackson came over to him. Jackson eventually walked over to Williams and had a conversation.”

The players were reportedly involved in one-on-one drills and “were clenched together for several moments until cornerback Brandon Boykin was the first to step in. Williams threw his helmet to the ground and went back after Cooper, though, and that’s when Vick jumped in and pulled him away.”
