Islamic Solidarity Games Open in Indonesia Print article Send a Tip from UPI 22 Sep 2013 post a comment Palembang, Indonesia, September 22 (QNA) - Launching athletes' marathon towards gold medals, the flag of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), along with the flags of 45 countries, were hoisted on Sunday, September 22, in Palembang, South Sumatra, to announce the opening of the 3rd Islamic Solidarity Games. "The Committee was prepared so that the execution of the opening is not a problem anymore," Ahmad Najib, the 4th Deputy Chairman of the Organizing Field of Islamic Solidarity Games (ISG), said in a press release published on the games official website. Najib was talking about the opening ceremony of the 3rd Islamic Solidarity Games event planned on Sunday evening. Held at the Jaka Baring Main Stadium, the ceremony included shows reflecting Indonesia arts, culture with Islamic overtones. The event extended for 6 hours and opened at 16:00 am with a variety of local arts, choir, and marching band from Indonesia performing schools. The games is expected to draw thousands of visitors who will follow games between athletes from 44 countries plus observer countries representatives. After the official opening ceremony attended by President, and ISSF officials, heads of state and representatives of the State INAISGOC participants and organizers, athletes were followed by a procession of participants, followed by a procession of flags.
