Wife of Reds Pitcher: Pirates Fan Assaulted Me During Game

The wife of Cincinnati Reds pitcher Mat Latos said on Twitter that a Pittsburgh Pirates fan assaulted her Tuesday night at PNC Park in Pittsburgh during Cincinnati’s loss in the National League Wild-card playoff game.

Dallas Latos filed a police report after a female Pirates fan punched her in the head at least three times after Latos told another Pittsburgh fan to stop being “mean” to the grandmother of another Reds player.

Latos said, “I was grabbed by my hair and beat in the head.”

She put much of the blame on Pittsburgh’s security: “Every opportunity was given to pirates security to deal with this before it happened. Unbelievable.”

Latos’s husband Mat was scheduled to pitch the game but could not do so because of an injury.
